Posted by este in Automotive Parts on July 2, 2011
Every now and then, our cars need help looking good; or at least normal. Most people do not want to spend money on buying new car parts and auto parts. Sometimes, you just do not have a choice; and you broken down looking car parts are crying for help.
We are not talking about a whole new car makeover. Although sometimes this is also necessary, (and cheaper than buying a new car) that is not the subject matter for now. There are so many things that can be done to make your car beautiful; and there are cheap, affordable options for everyone. Then, there are some things that need to be done; to keep your car working beautiful. Fine, you might not be willing to buy all types of accessories, but, there are certain things that need to be maintained in order that your car does not turn into a heap.
Firstly, are your mirrors. Located on each side are these lovely necessities to your car. Let’s face it; they stick out. These mirrors are almost always the first things to be noticed on your car. They are also the first to get smashed. If a car side swipes you on the road, your mirrors are very vulnerable. They are equally as vulnerable when just parked in the street. Any car that is not being careful, and is going too close on one side of the street, can easily do a number on your side mirrors. There is nothing you can do about it. It just happens sometimes. The best thing to do if you are really nervous is to tuck them in when you park. Of course, this can be dangerous if you forget to put them back when you start driving. The next best thing is to keep them clean. Majority of the time when your mirrors are hit, they are not totally smashed up. Just wipe them down when they do get scuffed up. This can make a world of a difference in the way the sides of your car looks. Sometimes, they are going to need to be replaced, however; when they are just too dented to go on. An Study of the Most Common Auto Parts Failures
Posted by este in Automotive Parts on July 2, 2011
Your car’s health and longevity are heavily dependent on the maintenance you provide through the years. Fortunately, most types of maintenance are simple and require very little time. For example, you’ll need to change the oil every 5,000 miles (or longer, depending on your owner’s manual). You’ll need to periodically replace the air and fuel filters. You’ll also need to check the fluid levels and tire pressure on a regular basis. If you’re diligent about doing these things, you can keep your vehicle operating smoothly for many years.
Unfortunately, old age eventually comes regardless of what you do to hold it at bay. Auto parts fail and will need to be replaced. Below, I’ll give you a list of the components you can expect to replace down the road.
The Fuel Pump
Your fuel pump is responsible for delivering gasoline to your fuel injection system. If it fails, your car’s engine (or specifically, the combustion chambers) will not receive the gas required for the combustion process. If you’re driving a domestic vehicle, you can expect to replace the pump at approximately 50,000 miles. If you own a Toyota or Honda, you may never need to replace it.
The bad news is that this component is usually installed within the gas tank. As a result, it takes time to replace. While the pump itself might cost $200, the labor might cost twice as much.
The Transmission
A transmission failure is expensive. While small problems, such as leaks, can be fixed easily and inexpensively if they’re identified early, a failure usually means replacing the entire assembly. This is because a lot of transmission shops are unwilling to perform a complete overhaul due to the time involved. Read the rest of this entry »
